Mens Wilts 4RL

In our first match of this years Mens Wiltshire Four rink league we welcomed a much depleted Royal Wootton Bassett side to Devonshire Road hoping to get the season off to a good start, having struggled to previously record a win in the first game of a four rink season since the Wiltshire Premier League came to be.

This was to be no exception as we were slow out of the blocks and trailed throughout the match albeit rather closely at times.

On Rink 1 Tom Warner’s ever-present rink trailed 3-5 at 7 ends but turned the tide quickly with successive counts to lead 16-5 at 11 ends. This unfortunately was to be last shots they would score as the RWB rink won the next 7 ends to finish up 16-14 to Salisbury.

On Rink 3 Nick Revell’s rink tussled closely throughout only to eventually pull away in the second half of the match and come out winners 19-12.
Welcome back to Jordan Moody who has rejoined the club having played a few seasons elsewhere.

It was a tough evening for the Salisbury boys on Rink 4 skipped by Bob Armstrong as despite only trailing 6-9 at 11 ends, they finished the match with a 7-22 loss. This seemed to coincide with the green slowing down as the early April night drew in.

On Rink 5 the rink skipped by Chris Weekes couldn’t quite break the RWB scoring pattern of 1s and 2s. They trailed 4-9 at 10 ends and after dropping a 4 on the 11th end it was always going to be difficult to claw back. The final 7 ends were shared 4 shots apiece to finish 8-17 to RWB.
